Haha here to begin...as you can see I didn't post about yesterday this was because I got far too drunk to do so when we got in. So this is Saturdays entry...
We had a fairly relaxed morning and a long lie in to catch up on some very much needed beauty sleep. After lunch (had chicken burger and chips again haha) we went to visit one the markets to do a bit of retail therapy. The market was near our college and next to Ningbo University campus. This was a really fun experience. As we were passing some of the shops we heard someone call out "Hello"to our surprise it was little boy, ah he was so cute, just want to take him home with me, haha. He asked us to go to his family's shop with him and as we got the he said "Please sit down" we spoke a bit but he mainly just started and giggled at us. He was so excited bless him.
Our shopping trip was a success or so I thought. I bought a shirt, a skirt, a hand crochet top and some shoes all for £35. We returned to our dormitory to drop of bags and get changed because we were too hot and our short dresses were blowing up in the wind and didn't want to give the chinese a fright. I thought it would be a good idea to wear my new shoes which was an epic fail and we also thought it was too hot for jackets which turned out to be a school boy era.
Next stop Ningbo for a beer...
We went back to Lao Waitan (spelt it wrong in my previous post) area again and to the Office Bar. It was still sunny so we sat outside and people watched, or should i say we got people watched, been papped so much over here feel like a celebrity. We witnessed many chinese people in wedding clothes and various extravagant outfits having photoshoots in the street. Having spoken to our new english speaking friends at the bar this is normal in China as they tend to have a shoot a few weeks before their wedding in order for their to be new photos in their new house/apartment and for them to be displayed at their actual wedding.
Tried another new beer: Kronenbourg, think this is my favourite along with Tsingtao. Beer is so new to me as I mainly drink wine or vodka.
Tea time approached and we headed off to a mexican restaurant and had a lovely chilli con carne. I would say this is just as good as my Dad's, he won't be pleased about this. After tea we headed to a different bar called Studio this was owned by a Canadian man who we were speaking to in the Office Bar he'd been giving us tips and places to visit for a our stay. The bar was really nice and he gave us free tequila shots and drinks. Needless to say we were quite drunk. After 8pm a duo started singing they were really good actually and was good entertainment. As the music got more upbeat and we got tipsy we got up to dance at the front. The chinese audience were amazed at this and they got up to join us and we taught them our moves very much a Bridget Jones moment similar to her Thailand prison experience. This was nice as we had a good time and made many new friends who will show us around in the future.
It soon got to home time so we asked our canadian friend Jeff to show us how to get a taxi. On leaving the bar both of my shoes decided to break, the whole platform came off. NIGHTMARE!!! This was especially a nightmare because the pedestrian crossing in China countdown how long you have to cross the road and with two broken shoes this was taking me forever. Solution: Jeff scooped me up and carried me. How embarrassing!!! The chinese stare anyway so this caused even more commotion. And again embarrassing as this was the first time we met Jeff and already he calls us crazy haha.
Tong Tong our friend has made us a little map which we can all carry around to show taxi drivers how to get home along with a note on the back telling the guard at the campus to let us in. They have lockdown here and 10pm where the student have to be home and the electricity goes off. Luckily for us those rules do not apply. When I got in I skyped my Dad because it was his 50th Birthday was lovely to speak to him and all the family back at home, soon passed out after this.
I will post later for Sunday's update!
